Purpose
The 6th annual Halloween Charity Ball raised the funds that will allow 1200 impoverished children from 20 communities to go to kindergarten in 2011.
Fiecare Copil in Gradinita is a program launched in July 2010 to offer impoverished children access to education from an early age. It is part of Ovidiu Rom's Fiecare Copil in Scoala initiative.
The future development of Romania's economy, as well as the way it is perceived abroad, depend greatly on high educational attainment of the general population. School abandonment perpetuates multi-generational poverty, which perpetuates crime and social dysfunction. These in turn create negative stereotypes, both within Romania and abroad.
Fiecare Copil in Scoala is a long-term initiative to get every poor child in the educational system from an early age, so they can succeed in school. Ovidiu Rom provides material support and direct services to impoverished children at risk of entering the education system late and dropping out early. OvR also trains teachers and provides consultation to local authorities in how to better integrate severely disadvantaged children into the school system. To date, Ovidiu Rom has directly reached over 5000 disadvantaged children with its services.
Scoala te face mare – A national public awareness campaign to emphasize the importance of education starting with kindergarten.
